OPTI Kinetics have been at the leading edge of effects and effects projection since 1970. The OPTI Kinetics section of the OPTI web site catalogues the full curent range of OPTI projectors, effects, accessories, strobes, the Bubble Bank and some examples of their uses.

In addition OPTI provide an insight into the innovative OPTI Kinetics products, that are no longer in production but, which were an important part of the development of worldwide effects technology. Many of the OPTI Kinetics products are still used today. In the early days of OPTI Kinetics (see 'About Us' pages) vivid 'Optical' and 'Kinetic' projected effects were created and brought to life by being projected using ground breaking projectors like the OPTI Solar 250. The same 'Optical' and 'Kinetic' projected effects that gave OPTI Kinetics its name. Over the years the range of OPTI effects gobos have changed and been added to. Many of these OPTI effect gobos like OPTI 6" Effect Wheels and Effect Cassettes are still in production and used mainly in the entertainment, leisure and special needs / therapy markets. Today the use of gobos is also extremely popular for creating custom effects or eye catching promotions in retail and exhibition applications as well as in entertainment and leisure. A ‘gobo’ is an object made from metal and/or glass that fits into a projector and creates an image for projection. OPTI Kinetics manufacture glass gobos using a wide range of processes. OPTI Kinetics gobos can be produced to fit most luminaire products. Effects are the critical and, many would argue, most important part of Effect Projection. Projectors are, of course, important but it is the imagery that they project that is what it is really all about.

Effects used in effect projection are often referred to as ‘gobos’. A ‘gobo’ is a partly or totally transmissive object that fits into a projector and creates an image for projection. OPTI manufacture glass gobos using a wide range of processes.

The standard ranges of OPTI Effects Gobos are designed and manufactured for use in OPTI Effects Projectors like the OPTI Solar 250 (shown right). These are split into 2 main formats. Effect Cassettes, which come in 2 sizes, and 6 inch Effect Wheels (shown right).

OPTI Custom Gobos are not exclusive to OPTI Kinetics Effects Projectors. They can be produced to fit most luminaire products.

Gobos fit into effects accessories which fit into the gate of projectors to create projected effects.
There are many combinations possible and use of multiple gobos in a number of projectors can create fantastic effect light shows like those shown below.

The use of Custom Gobos is becoming extremely popular for projection and promotions in retail and exhibition applications. Other applications include leisure, theatre, corporate and architectural.
